what Twots does#

Twots is a platform for creating AI-powered Twitter mascot accounts. You define a persona, connect a Twitter API key, and deploy an autonomous agent that replies to mentions, retweets relevant content, and engages your audience in conversation. The mascot runs 24/7 without manual scheduling or content queues.

This is not a social media scheduler. It is not a canned-response bot. Each Twots mascot is backed by GPT, generating contextual responses based on the persona you define and the conversations happening around your brand.

the problem worth solving#

Brand mascots have been around for a long time because they work. Recognition, emotional connection, a face for a company that would otherwise be faceless. But they are static by nature. They live on packaging and ad campaigns. They do not reply to anyone.

Sixty-six percent of all tweets on X come from automated accounts (Enrichlabs, 2026). The platform is already dominated by bots, but most of them are low-quality spam with no personality, no brand alignment, and no conversational ability. What was missing was a bot that could actually sound like someone. Twots does that by combining GPT language generation with a persistent brand persona that operates within Twitter's official API boundaries.

The AI mascot space is moving fast. Platforms like AiVATAR and WiseOx are building virtual brand ambassadors with voice and multilingual capabilities (BrandingMag, 2025). Twots takes a narrower, more practical approach: one platform, one channel (Twitter/X), deep conversational engagement. Most brands do not need a VR mascot. They need a Twitter presence that actually responds.

what we built#

GPT-powered persona engine#

Each Twots mascot runs on the OpenAI GPT API. The persona layer sits between the raw model and the Twitter integration. You define the mascot's name, tone, style, and behavioral boundaries. The GPT layer generates responses that stay in character while adapting to each specific interaction.

The hard part is not "connect GPT to Twitter." It is maintaining consistent personality across hundreds of interactions without drifting, hallucinating off-brand statements, or producing responses that sound identical to every other GPT-powered bot on the platform. The persona engine handles prompt construction, context windowing, and tone calibration to keep the mascot distinctly itself.

official Twitter API integration#

Twots connects through paid Twitter API accounts. This is a deliberate architectural decision. Twitter's Terms of Service prohibit unauthorized automation. Using the official API means Twots mascots operate within platform rules, reducing the risk of account suspension and keeping the operation viable over time.

Users configure their API credentials through a dashboard interface. The system handles OAuth flows, rate limiting, and the specific endpoint patterns required for mentions, replies, retweets, and timeline monitoring.

dashboard and deployment#

The platform is built on Next.js with Tailwind CSS, deployed on Vercel. Mascot creation, API key management, and engagement monitoring all happen through a single dashboard. Stripe handles payment processing. The path from "I want a mascot" to "mascot is live on Twitter" takes less than a day.

capabilities#

Mascots monitor mentions and reply contextually, around the clock, without anyone sitting at a keyboard. Tone, vocabulary, behavioral limits, and brand voice are all configurable up front. The GPT layer enforces those settings across every interaction, so the mascot does not drift.

Reply threads are the core behavior, but mascots also retweet and surface content based on the brand's defined interests. All automation goes through Twitter's official paid API. That matters because the alternative, browser automation or unofficial scraping, gets accounts banned. Dashboard monitoring lets you review interactions and adjust persona settings without touching any configuration files.

results#

Twots users report a 30% increase in audience engagement and a 50% improvement in brand recognition metrics after deploying mascots. These are self-reported numbers from early users, so take them with appropriate skepticism, but the directional signal has been consistent. The platform maintains 99.99% uptime.

The platform is live and serving marketing teams, influencers, and independent creators who want a presence on Twitter without dedicating staff hours to it.

how this fits the work we do#

Twots is a production system. The AI has to maintain personality coherence across an open-ended, unpredictable conversation space. The integration layer has to handle rate limits, API policy changes, and the specific constraints of Twitter's automation rules. None of that is demo-level work.

The discipline here, building AI that operates autonomously against real APIs under real platform constraints, is the same thing we do in our broader agentic AI practice. Twitter is a noisier, higher-stakes environment than most, which is part of what made it a useful problem to build against.
